Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 12, 2026 · Last Updated: October 12, 2026

Summary for Developers

CodeShot is engineered with a strict zero-data retention, client-side first architecture. Code snippets pasted into the main studio are processed, highlighted, and rendered directly in your browser using HTML5 Canvas. We never store, log, inspect, or sell your proprietary code.

1. Overview & Controller

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which CodeShot ("we", "our", or "us"), accessible via https://codeshot.in, collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users ("User" or "you") of the website.

2. Data Collection and Usage

Code Snippets & Content:

When you use the CodeShot web application, all syntax parsing and image composition happen locally within your web browser via client-side JavaScript. Unless you explicitly make a GET request to our server-side rendering API endpoint (/render), your source code is never transmitted to our backend servers.

Standard Log Files:

Like almost all web servers, CodeShot follows standard logging procedures. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any personally identifiable information and are strictly used to diagnose server issues, prevent DDoS attacks, and administer the website.

3. Cookies and Web Beacons

CodeShot may use cookies and local storage to remember your custom configuration preferences (such as your chosen film stock, window style, background gradient, and font sizing).

4. Google AdSense & Advertising Partners

We use third-party advertising companies, including Google LLC ("Google"), to serve advertisements when you visit our website. These companies may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites across the Internet:

5. Analytics & Third-Party Services

We may employ privacy-focused web analytics services to understand general audience numbers and referral sources. These tools do not record keystrokes, personal identity, or sensitive code snippet contents.

6. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you are entitled to rights including access, rectification, erasure, and objection to data collection. Because CodeShot does not maintain user accounts, databases of user profiles, or stored code repositories, we hold no personal profile data.

7. Children's Information

CodeShot does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13.
